In a thrilling MLS playoff match, Logan Ndenbe and Daniel Salloi became the heroes for Sporting Kansas City as they staged a stunning upset, knocking out the top-seeded St. Louis City SC.
Ndenbe initiated the scoring with a brilliant striker’s finish, finding the back of the net with precision. The fullback’s exceptional effort came during first-half stoppage time when he received the ball at the top of the box and, using his weaker foot, slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.
The game-winner was delivered by Daniel Salloi in the 73rd minute, following a remarkable counter-attack by Sporting, originating from a CITY corner kick attempt. The Hungarian winger timed his run perfectly and was positioned at the back post to tap in the decisive goal.
Sporting Kansas City has executed a remarkable upset, eliminating the 2023 regular season Western Conference champions. While CITY had the upper hand in their regular-season encounters, Sporting emerged victorious in both playoff matches.
Sporting KC now eagerly anticipates their next opponent in the Western Conference playoff semifinals, as they continue their quest for MLS glory.
