SSU Management Team Congratulate Governor Ahmad Aliyu Over Success

The Management of Sokoto State University has on Wednesday, 31st May, 2023, paid a congratulatory visit to the Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, FCNA, on his swearing-in as the Executive Governor of Sokoto State.

In his response, the State Governor and Visitor to the University, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto expressed his delight to the management, saying it is the first organization to pay him a congratulatory visit and formally presented a congratulatory note on his swearing-in as Sokoto State Governor.

He disclosed that his administration would provide a conducive atmosphere for research, community service, teaching, and learning that will ensure optimum results for excellence in Sokoto State University.

Governor Aliyu Sokoto said he would operate a willful synergy in order to come up with the basic and essential infrastructure needs of the University. He pointed out that his government would run an open door policy that would always welcome objective criticism for positive action plans and strategies.

Earlier speaking during the visit, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Bashir Garba, MFR, said they were at the Government House to formally congratula the governor on his swearing-in as the Governor of the State.

Prof. Garba has similarly used the visit to congratulate the Governor on the successful completion of his Ph.D. programme in Business Administration.

He further expressed optimism that Governor Ahmed Aliyu has all the potential of taking Sokoto State to a greater height with the assistance of Almighty Allah, considering his wealth of experience.

The Vice-Chancellor went ahead to tick off some of the developments recorded so far by the University, among which are growth in students population and infrastructure, which paved the way for the institution to be in its second phase of development, approval by the National Universities Commission to commence postgraduate programmes and sixteen additional undergraduate programmes, which according to him, admissions were given and lectures commenced.

Others are the completion and furnishing of the Centre for the Study of the Sokoto Caliphate, Faculties of Engineering and Agriculture, while that of the College of Health Sciences was ongoing. He added that whenever approval is given by the State Government to employ staff for the two Faculties and the College, approval will be secured from the National Universities Commission for the commencement of academic programmes.

Meanwhile, Prof. Graba called on the Governor to kindly consider paying the outstanding salaries of sabbatical and visiting lecturers of the University. He said the request became necessary because the University has so much relied on the services of such categories of lecturers to complement the efforts of the permanent staff.
