Super Eagles’ Triumph: Government Pledges Reward for AFCON Finalists

Vice President Kashim Shettima convened with the Super Eagles following their impressive victory over South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, assuring them of government rewards for their “remarkable commitment and dedication.”

In a statement and accompanying photos shared on their official social media handle, the Super Eagles announced the government’s pledge to reward them for their outstanding performance in reaching the finals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

“The Federal Government has pledged to reward the Super Eagles for their exceptional commitment and dedication in advancing to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations,” the statement read.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, accompanied by Governors Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State, Minister for Youths Dr. Jamila Ibrahim, as well as prominent figures such as oil mogul Wale Tinubu, FIFA Council member Amaju Pinnick, and NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, conveyed the government’s pride in the team’s accomplishment during a visit to the dressing room following their hard-fought victory over South Africa in the semi-finals.

The Super Eagles secured their place in the tournament final after a thrilling 4-2 penalty shootout win against Bafana Bafana.

Nigeria boasts the highest number of appearances in the AFCON semi-finals, having participated in the prestigious tournament 15 times.
