SWAN congratulates Kola Daniel

…Says appointment a new dawn

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) on Tuesday described the appointment of award winning sports journalist, Kola Daniel as the Special Adviser on Media to the Sports Minister, Sunday Dare as a round peg in the round hole.

SWAN in a statement signed by its President, Comrade Ahmed Aigbona and Secretary General, Mr. Mike Oboh in Abuja, stated that the appointment of Mr. Daniel, a member of the FCT chapter of the association has once again proved that the minister has the eyes to pick a quality team which will drive his quest to take sports in the country to a higher level.

The Association though believes that the task was a daunting one, it was of the view that the widely travelled journalist and an astute reporter of sporting events in the country, will bring to bear his wealth of experience to navigate the new challenge.

“Kola Daniel is not new in the terrain and with what he has done with his pen and his professional touch in the field of sports journalism; we believe he has what it takes to contribute to the sports minister’s team desire to take sports to a higher level.

“We pray God to guide his steps so that his name will be written in gold in the history of sports in Nigeria. It is a new dawn and we are happy, one of us is picked to advise the minister on media related matters,” the statement noted.

  • The Association however urged him to foster a better working relationship between the media and the minister, who also has a rich resume in journalism.
