    NYA Appoints Chairpersons for FCT, North Central States to Boost Youth Engagement

    The National Youth Alliance (NYA) has approved the appointment of chairpersons for the six North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, as part of efforts to strengthen its organizational structure and expand youth participation in national development. The appointments, announced by the national leadership of the alliance, cover Kogi, Niger, Plateau, Benue, Kwara, and Nasarawa states, as well as the FCT. The move is aimed at enhancing grassroots mobilization, improving coordination, and deepening the involvement of young people in governance and socio-economic development across the North Central geopolitical zone.

    According to the NYA leadership, the decision reflects its confidence in the competence, integrity, experience, and commitment of the newly appointed officials to advance the alliance’s vision, mission, and core values. “These appointments form part of our strategic efforts to strengthen youth-driven leadership at the state and regional levels, while ensuring effective representation and participation of young people in national discourse,” the statement said. The newly appointed chairpersons are Comrade Abel Adinoyi Salami for Kogi State; Hon. Nuhu Liman for Niger State; Dr. Kwarshak Kelvin for Plateau State; Comrade Ene Cynthia Olofu-Ogbe for Benue State; Arc. Akanbi Lamidi for Kwara State; and Amb. Deenilislam Abdullahi for Nasarawa State. Hon. Shu’aibu Lawal has been appointed as the NYA Chairman for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

    The National Youth Alliance charged the appointees to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, discipline, inclusiveness, and loyalty to the ideals of youth empowerment, unity, good governance, and national progress.They were also urged to work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders, including government institutions, civil society organizations, and community leaders, to expand the NYA’s footprint and impact within their respective jurisdictions. The leadership emphasized that the new chairpersons are expected to play a key role in mobilizing young people, promoting civic engagement, and driving programs that align with the alliance’s objectives of national unity and sustainable development. “The success of the alliance at the grassroots level depends largely on the effectiveness, commitment, and leadership capacity of our state and FCT chairpersons,” the statement added.

    The NYA expressed optimism that the appointments would further strengthen its presence in the North Central region and contribute meaningfully to youth-focused advocacy, policy engagement, and leadership development initiatives.     The National Youth Alliance (NYA) has announced the appointment of six state chairmen to oversee and strengthen its activities across the North East geopolitical zone, as part of efforts to deepen youth engagement and improve coordination in the region.The appointments, approved by the national leadership of the National Youth Alliance, were disclosed in a statement released on Friday. According to the statement, the decision aligns with the NYA’s broader strategy of consolidating youth-driven leadership, promoting peacebuilding, and enhancing grassroots participation across Nigeria.The newly appointed chairmen will lead the Alliance’s activities in Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe states. They are expected to coordinate programmes, mobilise young people, and advance the organisation’s objectives at the state level.

    Those appointed include Comrade Umar D. Afakawa as Chairman for Adamawa State and Muhammad Nur as Chairman for Borno State. Adamu Almusbahuddeen was named Chairman for Bauchi State, while Comrade Abdulrazak Haruna Isah will head the Alliance in Gombe State.Others are Hon. Usman Bobbo, appointed as Chairman for Taraba State, and Hon. Muhammad Idi, who will serve as Chairman for Yobe State. The NYA leadership described the appointees as young leaders of proven capacity and integrity, with a shared commitment to youth empowerment, unity, and national development. It noted that the appointments were made after careful consideration of their experience, leadership qualities, and dedication to the ideals of the Alliance.

    According to the statement, the National Youth Alliance believes the new leadership structure in the North East will strengthen its presence and effectiveness in the region, particularly in mobilising young people for constructive civic engagement and socio-economic development.“ The appointments are expected to further reposition the NYA as a formidable and inclusive platform for youth mobilisation, unity, and active participation in governance,” the statement said.

    The leadership added that the North East remains a critical zone for youth-focused interventions, given its demographic profile and ongoing need for initiatives that promote peace, stability, and economic inclusion. The NYA also charged the newly appointed chairmen to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, discipline, and commitment to the Alliance’s vision.     The National President of the National Youth Alliance (NYA), Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas, on Wednesday inaugurated the Kano State chapter of the Aliyu Care Foundation, describing the initiative as a platform to deepen youth participation in humanitarian service and social development.The inauguration ceremony, held at the Centre for Socratic Research, Mambayya House, in Kano, attracted youths from across Nigeria, alongside leaders of the NYA and other invited dignitaries. The venue, located at the historic residence of the late Malam Aminu Kano in Gwammaja Quarters, added symbolic significance to the event.

    Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of young people, noting that their presence reflected a growing readiness among Nigerian youths to assume leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to national development.He said the Aliyu Care Foundation was established as a humanitarian organisation focused on supporting the less privileged, regardless of background or social status. According to him, the foundation’s mission aligns with the values of service, compassion, and inclusivity.“ I am happy to see the enthusiasm of young people gathered here today. It is a clear indication that Nigerian youths are ready to lead and to make a difference,” he said. Ambassador Abbas added that the foundation would prioritise initiatives aimed at alleviating hardship, promoting social welfare, and empowering vulnerable groups across communities. He expressed confidence that the objectives behind the establishment of the Aliyu Care Foundation would be achieved through collective commitment and sustained engagement.

    The NYA president noted that youth-led organisations have a critical role to play in addressing social challenges, especially at the grassroots level, where the impact of humanitarian interventions is often most felt.As part of the inauguration programme, a special prayer session was held in honour of the late Malam Aminu Kano, fondly remembered as Jagoran Talakawa for his lifelong advocacy for the masses. Ambassador Abbas led the call for prayers, acknowledging Malam Aminu Kano’s enduring contributions to democratic ideals, leadership development, and good governance in Nigeria.

    He described the late nationalist as a symbol of principled leadership and social justice, whose legacy continues to inspire generations of Nigerians, particularly youths committed to equity and people-oriented governance.“Praying for Malam Aminu Kano is not just about remembrance; it is about reaffirming the values he stood for—justice, democracy, and leadership with conscience,” Ambassador Abbas said.Participants at the event also highlighted the importance of sustaining Malam Aminu Kano’s ideals through practical actions, including humanitarian outreach and youth empowerment initiatives such as those envisioned by the Aliyu Care Foundation Kano Chapter.

    The inauguration marked the formal commencement of the foundation’s activities in Kano State, with organisers indicating that programmes would soon be rolled out to address pressing social needs within the state and beyond.The event concluded with goodwill messages from youth leaders and guests, who pledged support for the foundation’s mission and called for greater collaboration among youth-driven organisations to promote social development and national cohesion.

    The National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Youth Alliance (NYA) has approved the appointment of five State Chairmen to lead the organisation across the South-East geopolitical zone, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation and expanding youth participation in national development.The approval was announced following an NEC meeting, where the Council affirmed that the appointments align with NYA’s broader strategy to deepen its presence at the state level and empower young people to play more active roles in governance, peacebuilding, and socio-economic development.

    According to the NEC, the newly appointed State Chairmen were selected based on their demonstrated commitment, leadership capacity, and ability to mobilise youths in their respective states in line with the core ideals of the National Youth Alliance.The approved appointments are as follows: Comrade Ugu Boniface Ozoemena for Ebonyi State; Comrade Anyikude Keneth Uzomma for Imo State; Comrade Ibekwe Chisom Gabriel for Anambra State; Comrade Ilo Ifeanyi Anthony for Enugu State; and Comrade Enyioma Godslove Sopuruchi for Abia State.

    The NEC noted that the appointments reflect its confidence in the ability of the new State Chairmen to promote unity, strengthen organisational structures, and provide purposeful leadership for young people across the South-East region.In a charge to the appointees, the Council emphasised the need to uphold the values of discipline, inclusiveness, transparency, and selfless service in the discharge of their duties.     The National Youth Alliance (NYA) has reaffirmed its commitment to shaping a new Nigeria led by a patriotic and visionary generation of youth, following its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja.

    During extensive deliberations, the NYA called for a generational shift in leadership, asserting that the older political order has failed and that Nigerian youth must now take responsibility for the nation’s future. The alliance emphasized the need for integrity, innovation, and courage among emerging leaders.

    The NYA also issued a caution to both government and opposition parties, warning against exploiting young Nigerians for political gain. “Our youth deserve empowerment, not manipulation,” the NEC stated.

    Security concerns were highlighted as a major issue. The NEC expressed serious alarm over rising insecurity across the country and urged the government to take decisive, proactive measures to protect lives and property.

    On the issue of political participation, the NYA condemned the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) continued refusal to register the alliance as a political party, despite meeting all legal requirements. The group described this as a violation of democratic rights and pledged to challenge the decision through all legitimate channels.

    Until such justice is achieved, the NYA declared it will continue to operate as a national youth movement. The alliance aims to unite young Nigerians and drive the rebirth of the nation, focusing on a Nigeria that works for all citizens.

    The NYA concluded by urging young Nigerians to remain united, organized, and dedicated to its mission of fostering responsible, youth-led governance.
