President Tinubu has officially reached out to the Nigerian Senate, urging them to conduct the screening and confirmation process for Ola Olukoyede, who has been nominated as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). If approved, Olukoyede is poised to lead the EFCC for a four-year term.
Tinubu’s decision to appoint Olukoyede as the substantive chairman of the EFCC comes in the wake of the resignation of the suspended executive chairman of the commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa.
The President’s request for the confirmation of Olukoyede and Mohammed Hassan as the secretary of the anti-graft agency was presented in a letter that was read during Tuesday’s plenary by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
