As Nigerians celebrate the festive season, Team New Nigeria (TNN) has extended warm congratulations to the nation for enduring what it described as a challenging year, exacerbated by policies of the Tinubu administration, including the contentious removal of the fuel subsidy.
In a statement issued to our correspondent, TNN emphasized the spiritual significance of Christmas and expressed solidarity with the marginalized.
“We commemorate Christmas as a day marking the birth of Jesus Christ, an event of profound spiritual significance for Christians worldwide. Biblically, this day reminds us of Luke 4:18, where Jesus declared:
‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.’
This verse exemplifies Christ’s solidarity with the marginalized and oppressed. For us, Christmas is a time to reflect on the revolutionary spirit of Christ, who challenged systemic injustice, corruption, and greed,” the statement read.
TNN highlighted the plight of millions of displaced Nigerians spending the holiday separated from their families and uncertain about their future but clinging to the hope of a brighter tomorrow and a better Nigeria.
The group assured Nigerians that help is on the way, as TNN continues efforts to combat bad governance and reshape the country’s political landscape. They called for support in their mission to “shake off the heavy yoke imposed by the self-serving and confused APC-led Federal Government” and to make Nigeria a source of pride for its citizens and the African continent.
“We urge all those yearning for a better, greater Nigeria to seize the moment and embrace the engine of change that TNN represents,” the statement concluded.
