Yahuza Umar Labbo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kirikasamma Local Government election in Jigawa State, has sadly passed away just days before the poll. The news was confirmed by the state APC chairman, Aminu Gumel, on Wednesday.

Umar Labbo, who was 55 years old, died following a brief illness. He leaves behind a family of three wives and fifteen children.

Governor Umar Namadi has expressed his condolences to the grieving family and the wider Muslim community, offering prayers for the deceased’s soul and strength for those mourning this loss.

This unfortunate event comes on the heels of a recent tragedy for the APC in Jigawa. Weeks ago, the party’s state headquarters in Dutse was destroyed by fire during protests over food shortages. The violent demonstrations resulted in the burning of the secretariat, destruction of billboards, and vandalism of vehicles.

The unrest extended to other areas, with armed youths causing significant damage in Birnin Kudu and targeting various state facilities. The violence also affected private residences, including that of a House of Representatives member and the APC Zonal Vice Chairman.

The APC in Jigawa is now facing a challenging period with these multiple setbacks.
