We’ll Embark On Aggressive Revenue Drive To Deliver More Projects In Abuja – Wike

By Joyce Rémi-Babayeju

The FCT Minister, Barr.
Nysome Wike has stated that the FCT Administration will embark on an aggressive drive to deliver more projects in the territory.
Wike disclosed this on Friday after visiting the Court of Appeal project, OSEX and ISEX road projects in Abuja to ascertain the level of work at the various sites.
The FCT Minister said that he was positive about the real-time completion of most of the projects , emphasizing that the administration will embark on aggressive Revenue Drive to sustain the achievements of more projects in territory.
He said, ” And that’s why we are going to be very very aggressive in our revenue drive to be able to achieve more projects.”

However, he wondered that people often complain that government is revoking the Certificates of Occupancy, CoOs, of their property because they do not understand that it is from such payments and taxes that the administration will be able to carry out projects that are meaningful with positive impact on the lives of residents.
Furthermore, Wike said that prudent management of funds is key tp achieving good projects.

“You can have more funds, but if you don’t manage it well, you will not achieve.
What’s important is to apply the funds judiciously. And that’s what you have seen the result today. I have always been saying that I will not start a project when I know there are no funds’, he explained.
The minister noted that awarding contracts without completion is meaningless to the people.
“If you award a contract, and it becomes an abandon Project. It doesn’t make any sense. So, we have managed the little funds we have.”

Also, Wike thanked Mr. President for his support in making the projects in Abuja 7achieveable.
“I thank Mr President. This is really, actually, what we call Renewed Hope agenda, adding that the Renewed hope means that hope has come back to our people”, the minister said.
