Wike Pledges Support for Sports, Set to Honour FCT Athletes

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has pledged continued support for sports development and announced plans to honour athletes who recently brought glory to the FCT through their outstanding performances in various competitions.

In a statement released by the FCT Sports Department on Tuesday in Abuja, Wike revealed that a special reception will be held on Thursday to celebrate athletes who represented the FCT at the 2022 National Sports Festival and the 7th and 8th National Youth Games.

The minister emphasized that the recognition aims to appreciate the athletes for their dedication, patriotism, and sacrifices, which have significantly contributed to the FCT’s success in sports.

“We are committed to the development of sports in the FCT and will continue to create an enabling environment for sports to thrive,” Wike stated.

He further highlighted that this initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision to engage young people, unlock their potential, and empower them for a brighter future.
