He lamented the percentage payment of salaries to Teachers in the state which according to him has affected the teaching profession economically, and appealed to the state Government to commence payment of full salaries to teachers so as to alleviate their suffering in Kogi state.

He disclosed that there won’t be a nation if there’s no Teacher, decried low level of infrastructure and instructional materials to Primary Schools, called for an improvement in the welfare of teachers.

He pointed out that non cash backing of promotions and payment of other allowances that would have motivated the Teachers in the state has contributed to the low performance and not even giving their best in the discharge of their duties.

The NUT Chairman described this year’s theme of the 2020 World Teachers Day: “Young Teachers : the future of the Profession”, as coming at a better time to motivate and encourage young ones to join the Teaching profession, and to contribute there quota to nation building.

The NUT Chairman used the occasion to call on the Kogi State Head of Service to help out with the release of the names of teachers who are yet to be cleared during the screening, said when released, it would help boost teaching manpower in the State.
