By Jabiru Hassan
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing a comprehensive development blueprint aimed at accelerating the state’s socio-economic transformation.
The governor made the pledge on Wednesday during a meeting with executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Polling Unit Associations drawn from the 44 local government areas of the state.
His remarks were contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf said his administration would remain focused on delivering good governance and improving the welfare of the people, stressing that it would not be distracted by political attacks or blackmail.
He noted that the government would continue to implement projects and programmes designed to stimulate economic growth, improve infrastructure and enhance public service delivery across the state.
The governor expressed confidence that the administration’s performance would continue to earn the trust and support of the people ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Describing the newly inaugurated party executives as the engine room of the APC’s grassroots structure, Yusuf urged them to remain united and committed to mobilising support for the party in their polling units, wards and local government areas.
He assured the executives of continued support through empowerment and capacity-building programmes aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structures.
Governor Yusuf expressed optimism that the APC would record overwhelming victories in the 2027 general elections through unity, hard work and sustained engagement with the electorate.

Gov. Agbu Kefas Seeks Reconciliation, Urges Party Members to Close Ranks After Primaries
By Aga Samuel Imoter—Jalingo
Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has called on leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to put aside grievances arising from the party’s recent congresses and primary elections, urging them to embrace reconciliation and work collectively towards strengthening the party.
The governor made the appeal on Tuesday night during a reconciliation dinner for APC stakeholders held at the Banquet Hall of the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.
Addressing party faithful, Kefas acknowledged that the period surrounding his defection to the APC, the conduct of the congresses and the recently concluded primaries generated intense political competition, leaving some members feeling aggrieved and excluded.
He, however, insisted that the processes were never designed to humiliate or sideline any aspirant, stressing that the party’s future depends on unity rather than division.”The time has come to move beyond our differences. We must forgive one another, unite as one political family and focus on the greater task of building a stronger APC and a more prosperous Taraba State,” the governor said.
Kefas cautioned those who emerged victorious in the primaries against engaging in politics of exclusion or reprisals, warning that such actions could undermine the party’s electoral prospects. He urged elected candidates and party leaders to adopt an inclusive leadership style by accommodating all stakeholders, regardless of the positions they took during the internal contests.
According to him, the APC must remain united, with no room for factionalism, bitterness, suspicion or political vendettas, noting that the party’s greatest strength lies in its collective resolve and shared vision for the development of Taraba State.
The governor further assured party members that his administration would continue to welcome constructive criticism and sincere advice, maintaining that inclusive governance remains critical to sustaining both effective leadership and party cohesion. “Electoral success cannot be achieved by individuals acting alone but through a united, disciplined and committed political structure working towards common goals,” he added.
Kefas also appealed to aspirants who were unsuccessful in the primaries to accept the outcome in the interest of the party, reconcile with fellow members and mobilise support for all APC candidates ahead of future elections.
Earlier, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, Prof. Josiah Sabo Kente, said the reconciliation dinner was organised to appreciate party stakeholders for their loyalty, sacrifices and peaceful conduct throughout the congresses and primary election process.
Kente described the gathering as a strategic initiative aimed at rebuilding trust, strengthening internal cohesion and positioning the APC for greater political success in Taraba State.
The event drew prominent APC leaders, elected and appointed officials, party executives, former and serving political office holders, aspirants and stakeholders from across the state, who collectively reaffirmed their commitment to unity and the continued growth of the party.
Political observers say the reconciliation initiative reflects the APC leadership’s determination to close ranks after its internal electoral process and consolidate support ahead of future political engagements in Taraba State.

Kefas Inaugurates Taraba Security Advisory Committee
By Aga Samuel Imoter, Jalingo
Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Wednesday inaugurated the Taraba State Security Advisory Committee, a high-level independent body established to strengthen the state’s security architecture through intelligence-led strategies, conflict prevention and enhanced collaboration among security stakeholders.
The committee was inaugurated at the Banquet Hall of TY Danjuma House in Jalingo and is expected to provide timely, evidence-based advice to the state government on security issues as part of efforts to consolidate peace and respond effectively to emerging threats.
Speaking at the inauguration, Governor Kefas said the establishment of the committee demonstrates his administration’s commitment to institutionalising a proactive and sustainable security framework anchored on intelligence gathering, early warning systems, community participation and inter-agency collaboration.
“The establishment of this committee underscores our determination to build a security system anchored on intelligence gathering, early warning mechanisms, community participation and seamless collaboration among all relevant agencies,” the governor said.
He explained that the committee would strengthen intelligence coordination, promote community-based security initiatives, deepen cooperation between security agencies and government institutions, and recommend practical measures to address evolving security challenges.
Kefas urged members of the committee to carry out their responsibilities with patriotism, professionalism and integrity, stressing that confidentiality and objectivity should guide their work.
“Your recommendations must always reflect the collective interest of Taraba State. The security, peace and stability of our people should take precedence over every personal, political or sectional consideration,” he added.
Responding on behalf of the committee, its chairman, Jonathan Kure, thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in the members and pledged their commitment to supporting the administration’s efforts to sustain peace and security across the state.
Kure described the committee as an important platform that would complement the work of security agencies by providing strategic advice on emerging security threats.
Also speaking, the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, said security remains a top priority of the Kefas administration, noting that the government has continued to invest in operational equipment and logistics to strengthen the capacity of security agencies.
He recalled that the Zonal Security Consultative Team recently toured all 16 local government areas of the state, engaging traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders to identify local security concerns and recommend community-driven solutions.
According to Kataps, the newly inaugurated advisory committee will build on those engagements by providing strategic policy direction, strengthening intelligence coordination and fostering closer collaboration among government institutions, security agencies and local communities.
He said the inauguration marks another milestone in the state government’s broader security reform agenda aimed at institutionalising intelligence-led governance, improving inter-agency coordination and creating a safer environment for investment, economic growth and sustainable development.
Details of the committee’s operational framework, reporting schedule and implementation mechanisms were not disclosed at the inauguration.
