Lady Nnachi gave the advise in a chat with newsmen to mark this year’s Menstrual Hygiene Day with the theme
“Making Menstruation a Normal Fact of Life by 2030″.

Lady Nnachi noted that poor menstrual hygiene, can pose serious health risks, like reproductive and urinary tract infections which can result in future infertility and birth complications, adding that neglecting to wash hands after changing menstrual products can also spread infections.

She pointed out that access to menstrual hygiene is a right and not a privilege and urged the girls to always seek help when they experience menstrual cramps and feel free to talk about their experience during their monthly flow.

The ENWAF CEO in her words said “Menstruation is not a taboo but it is normal”, girls can still pursue their dreams in life while bleeding, access to menstrual hygiene is a right and not a privilege, seek help and feel free to talk about your experience”.

She called on various organizations to work together to advocate for menstrual hygiene and break taboos associated with it, promising to promote adolescents health and total wellbeing of women and girls by donating sanitary pads, toiletries and other hygiene care items to those around her who cannot afford the items.
