Retired Major General Kidnapped by Suspected IPOB Gunmen in Imo State

In a recent incident in Imo State, Nigeria’s South-East, gunmen believed to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) abducted retired Major General RC Duru. The retired officer was taken last weekend in the Orji General area, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State. The abduction occurred when the Major General was driving his black Mercedes Benz ML jeep, and he was ambushed by the gunmen, who were traveling in a Toyota Sienna. The kidnappers seized his vehicle and fled the scene. Checkpoints were alerted, and efforts to trace his phone, which was tracked to Mba Itoli in Imo State, proved futile as it was switched off.
