Benue Internal Revenue Service to eliminate multiple taxation on motorists

The Acting Executive Chairman, Benue Internal Revenue Service, BIRS, Mr Emmanuel Agema, has reiterated the stand and commitment of the Joint Tax Board’s to expunge the multiple taxes through issuance of stickers on motorists by Local Governments, organizations and associations.

Mr Agama, who made this disclosure when the Permanent Member of the Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Mr Sabo Usman and Bulus Akaba, the Director in charge of Assessment of the service paid a coutesy visit to him at the BIRS’s headquarters in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

In a statement by the Media Assistant to the Chairman, BIRS, Jacintha Bernard, said arrangements have reached an advanced stage to introduce a single and better haulage fee and sticker, which will be recognized by each state.

“The Chairman, reiterated the stand and commitment of the Joint Tax Board to expunge the numerous stickers previously issued by different organizations, associations and Local Governments, amounting to numerous taxes on motorists, by introducing a single haulage fee and sticker which will be recognized by each state.”

Responding, the Permanent Member of Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Mr Usman, lauded Mr Agema over crucial information and issues he raised regarding revenue, maintaining that it would be judiciously utilized by the Nasarawa State Internal Revenue Service.
