Just In: Hope Uzodimma Emerges Victorious in Imo State Governorship Election

In a recent development, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Hope Uzodimma as the winner of the Imo State governorship election, which took place on Saturday.

The state Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, who also serves as the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State, made the announcement on Sunday morning at INEC’s state collation center in Owerri, the state capital.

According to the results declared, Uzodimma, representing the All Progressives Congress, secured victory with a total of 540,308 votes. Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party trailed behind in second place with 71,503 votes. Athan Achonu of the Labour Party secured the third position with 64,081 votes, while Anthony Ejiogu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance and Jack Ogunewe of the Action Alliance claimed the fourth and fifth positions with 6,392 and 5,756 votes, respectively.

Prof. Abayomi Fasina, the Returning Officer, stated, “I, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, was the Returning officer for the Imo state governorship election held on November 11, 2023. The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Good Hope Uzodimma, having scored the highest number of votes and satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner of the election and returned elected.”

INEC’s results indicated that Uzodimma secured victory in all 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
