Embassy of Sweden in Abuja with Global Wissen Consult to mark International Women’s Day

The Embassy of Sweden in Abuja has reiterated
commitment to the promotion of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in Nigeria.

Consequently and to celebrate the progress made and highlight what still needs to be done, the Embassy together with Global WissenConsult, a Swedish/Nigerian social development enterprise, are hosting an International Women’s Day event.

According to a press release signed by
Elohor Folaranmi, Promotion and Communication Officer, Embassy of Sweden, the event is set to be a prestigious gathering of key stakeholders and change-makers committed to advancing gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.

The it noted would embody the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day “Count Her In – Economic Empowerment & Inclusion, Policies & Education”, which it said resonates with the global call to action for inclusive participation and empowerment of women, across economic and policy spheres.

The noted that the event will serve as a dynamic platform for robust discussions, networking opportunities, and the exchange of ideas on critical issues surrounding gender equality, economic empowerment, policies, and education.

Through engaging dialogues, participants will gain exclusive insights into innovative approaches to gender equality and learn about actionable strategies for fostering inclusion, economic empowerment, and policy advocacy. The statement said.

“At the Embassy of Sweden in Nigeria, we are deeply honoured to host this significant gathering of individuals, dedicated to advancing the rights and opportunities of women,” remarked H.E. MsAnnikaHahn-Englund, Sweden’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and ECOWAS.

“This International Women’s Day event embodies our shared commitment to fostering a more inclusive and equitable society, where women and men have equal opportunities to thrive across all sectors.”

The event, designed as an intimate gathering, will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, share best practices, and explore avenues for collaborative action towards achieving gender equality and economic empowerment.

As we mark International Women’s Day, let us come together to celebrate the achievements of women, acknowledge the work that remains, and reaffirm our collective commitment to building a more inclusive gender equal world, where every woman is counted in, nomatter where.
