Mohbad’s Autopsy Results Awaited, Forensic Expert Reveals

By Daniel Edu

Dr. Richard Somiari, Director of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, has announced that the autopsy conducted on the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, is expected to be completed within the next three to four weeks.

Somiari made this revelation while providing testimony during a coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death, which commenced on October 13, 2023, at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, sparking widespread controversy and prompting the Lagos State Government to initiate the coroner’s inquest to ascertain the circumstances surrounding his demise.

Addressing the court, Somiari stated that the Forensic Centre meticulously explored various possibilities, including the potential involvement of poison in Mohbad’s death, as no specific cause had been established. He assured the public of the stringent security measures in place to safeguard and monitor the samples collected for the autopsy.

“We anticipate receiving the initial autopsy findings within three to four weeks, which will be subsequently verified to ascertain the exact cause of death,” Somiari explained. He emphasized the thoroughness of the investigation, indicating the rigorous procedures employed to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the results.

Furthermore, Somiari reassured the court that measures were in place to maintain the integrity and security of the samples, including strict protocols for their transportation and analysis.

The completion of the autopsy and the subsequent release of its findings are eagerly awaited by Mohbad’s family, fans, and the wider public, as they seek closure and clarity regarding the circumstances surrounding the untimely demise of the talented musician.
