Clash Erupts Between Aiyedatiwa and Akinterinwa Camps Over Billboard Destruction Allegations

The Wale Akinterinwa Campaign Organisation has sounded the alarm over the purported destruction of billboards belonging to their principal, Wale Akinterinwa, allegedly by suspected political thugs.

This incident, occurring just weeks ahead of the All Progressives Congress governorship primary scheduled for April 25, 2024, has sparked tension between Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Akinterinwa, both vying for the party’s ticket.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Wale Akinterinwa Campaign Organisation, Mr. Segun Ajiboye, the group called on Governor Aiyedatiwa to rein in his supporters and halt the reported attacks on their billboards.

However, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers, represented by its Director of Publicity, Mr. Kayode Fasua, vehemently denied the allegations, dismissing them as falsehoods aimed at tarnishing the governor’s reputation.

WACO recalled previous incidents where Akinterinwa’s billboards were allegedly vandalized by Aiyedatiwa’s supporters during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to the state in February. Despite assurances from the governor to investigate the matter, no action has been taken, and none of the perpetrators have been apprehended.

Fasua countered WACO’s claims, asserting that they lacked evidence to support their allegations and suggesting that the billboards may have been poorly erected, thus succumbing to natural elements like rain and wind.

Amidst the escalating tensions, both camps have called on party leaders and security agencies to intervene and ensure the safety of supporters and properties belonging to aspirants across the state.
