In response to the tragic boat accident that claimed the life of Nollywood actor Junior Pope and three crew members, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has taken decisive action by suspending all film productions involving riverine areas and boat rides.
AGN National President Emeka Rollas announced the suspension, declaring Thursday as a “No Shoot Day” for all Nollywood filmmakers as a mark of respect for the deceased individuals. The fatal incident occurred during the filming of “The Other Side of Life,” produced by Adamma Luke, on the Anam River in Anambra.
Rollas emphasized the indefinite suspension of film productions in riverine areas and boat riding scenes as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of actors and crew members. Additionally, the film “The Other Side of Life” has been suspended indefinitely.
Furthermore, Rollas stated that no actor will be permitted to work with Adamma Luke as a producer until further notice. The AGN continues to search for the bodies of the remaining individuals involved in the accident.
In closing, Rollas extended condolences to the families of Junior Pope and the other crew members, expressing hopes for their souls to rest in peace.
