The Central Planning Committee of the Tarok Annual Cultural festival Ilum O’Tarok 2024 has paid a visit to Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong to formally invite him to this year’s event scheduled for 27th April 2024.
The team led by the Chairman, Central Planning Committee Mr. Selman Dashe visited Lalong’s residence in Abuja on Friday 19th April 2024.
Mr. Dashe appreciated the Senator for granting them audience and said they were mandated to formally invite him to the Cultural fiesta in his capacity as Senator representing Plateau South as well as a friend of the Tarok people who has done a lot for them.
He said apart from displaying the rich Cultural heritage of the Tarok people, the event will feature other activities including fund raising for the establishment of a University.
Responding, Senator Lalong appreciated the visit and invitation, reminding them that he has always attended the event in the past because of his closeness to the Tarok people.
He recalled that he grew up with Tarok friends and has maintained such relationships over time.
Lalong emphasized the need to continue to sustain the cultural heritage which not only defines the people’s essence, but also gives guidance to the younger generation.
He promised to attend the event and also commended the plan for an appeal fund towards establishing a University which will add value to Plateau State and the Southern Zone in particular.
The Senator reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the zone does not lag behind in education and other projects.
