Nigeria International Ibrahim Sunusi was at his imperious best when his two goals led CF Montreal to a hard-fought 4-2 win over Christian Benteke’s led DC United.
Sunusi Ibrahim who began the game on the bench at the Saputo Stadium was introduced as early as the 19th minutes when he replaced the injured Jules-Anthony Vilsaint.
The team got it’s first goal thanks to Ariel Lassiter’s 6th minute strike before ex Liverpool star leveled the things up in the 29th minutes, Sunusi Ibrahim made his presence known when he put CF Montreal ahead again with a diving header thanks to a perfect cross from Ruan.
Mathieu Chioniere would increase CF Montreal’s tally with a low drive into the far right corner from a well taken freekick four minutes later.
Benteke was on had to reduce the deficit just less than two minutes to the end of first half to pile the pressure on the home team.
The Canadian based MLS side continue to dominate chances creation and not long the ex FC Basira star completed his brace when he broke free off his marker to put digger into the hearts of the visiting fans in the 73rd minutes.
Sunusi Ibrahim who was later voted the player of the game has scored four goals with one assist in 14 games for CF Montreal.
CF Montreal will next be visitors at the Subaru Part on Saturday to face Philadelphia Union.
