Chido Obi-Martin has officially announced his departure from Arsenal, with Manchester United awaiting a decision from the 16-year-old talent.
According to Football.london, United has been in discussions to sign the highly-rated striker, although Bayern Munich is also interested in securing his signature.
Obi-Martin made a significant impact last season with his prolific goal-scoring for Arsenal’s Academy team, including netting seven goals in a 9-0 victory over Norwich City. This impressive performance followed a string of notable games where he scored five goals against West Ham and four each in wins over Crystal Palace and Fulham, keeping him in the spotlight.
In a brief Instagram post, Obi-Martin said, “Thank you, Arsenal,” accompanied by a prayer hands emoji. He elaborated on his decision in his Instagram story, expressing gratitude for his time at the club.
“Thank you to everyone at Arsenal for the last four years. The experiences and growth I’ve achieved here have been truly invaluable. Special thanks to the coaches, staff, and teammates at Hale End,” he wrote.
United is reportedly the front-runner to sign Obi-Martin, who visited their Carrington training base. Arsenal will be due compensation once the transfer is finalized. However, the player remains on the radar of several European clubs, including Bayern Munich, after joining Arsenal from FC Copenhagen in 2022.
