By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

The FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike on Tuesday promised to reward and to support a vigilante group with an operational vehicle and cash reward for rescuing 4 kidnapped people at Kwaita Gembu community in Kuje Local Government Area in the FCT.

Wike said that the rewards will motivate them to do more to prevent insecurity in the community.

The Minister had received the kidnapped people while on inspection of two road projects at the Kwali Area Council.

The victims, a woman and three men narrating to the FCT Minister who received them, said that they were kidnapped over the weekend, and had thought the kidnappers were armed robbers when they came.”

One of the rescued victims, Isaac Gbemu, said, “We were in our house around midnight when we heard gunshots. Initially, we thought it was armed robbers, but when the people broke into the compound, we discovered they were kidnappers.”

“They took us away that night and brought us to the bush that we didn’t know, and we had spent three days there before the vigilante group rescued us this morning.”
