RUWASSA Donates Motorcycles and Sanitary Items to Oyo LGAs to Combat Open Defecation

The Oyo State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA) donated motorcycles, Ahuja speakers, and sanitary items to ten local government areas in the state on Monday. This contribution marks the 100th day in office of RUWASSA Chairman, Alhaji Babalola Afobaje.

The donated items included 100 Ahuja speakers, six motorcycles (two each for Egbeda, Ona-Ara, and Ibarapa-East local governments), and various sanitary items. The donation is aimed at ending open defecation in the councils and communities throughout the state.

In detailing his achievements over the past 100 days, Afobaje highlighted the significant support RUWASSA has received from UNICEF in its efforts to eradicate open defecation in Egbeda, Ona-Ara, and Ibarapa-East. Additionally, under his leadership, the agency has drilled solar boreholes across several local governments in the state.

Afobaje emphasized that the purpose of the donation is to bolster local government efforts in ending open defecation. He urged local authorities to ensure the timely distribution of the items to the beneficiaries.

He praised Governor Seyi Makinde for his steadfast support, which has facilitated international partnerships with UNICEF and other donors. Afobaje noted that the agency’s partnership with UNICEF has positively impacted the lives of people in the state.

Hon. Sikiru Sanda, Chairman of Egbeda Local Government Area, expressed gratitude to RUWASSA for the donation and urged other international partners, donors, NGOs, corporate organizations, and wealthy individuals to follow RUWASSA’s lead in addressing the needs of the underprivileged.

He assured that the items would be used for their intended purpose, contributing to the fight against open defecation.

The affected local governments include Egbeda, Ibarapa East, Ogo-Oluwa, Iseyin, Oluyole, Ibadan South East, Ona-Ara, and others.
