By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Several people have fallen victim to attacks and injuries after suspected bandits invaded Tasha 2 in Deidei, a satellite town in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory.

The incident occurred late Thursday night in the area situated between Zuba and Kubwa/Kagini, leaving a trail of injuries among residents.

One distressing case involved a resident who was injured while fleeing the scene. The individual had their ear severed and is now the focus of community efforts for financial assistance to cover hospital treatment.

Eyewitness Maryam Bala Kure reported that the victim was losing significant amounts of blood, prompting a neighborhood fundraising drive for medical expenses.

According to sources, the bandits carried out a house-to-house search around 2 a.m. while everyone was asleep. They targeted money, phones, and other household items.

“If you didn’t give them anything, they would beat you severely and leave,” said a local. Tasha 2 Deidei, located along the Gwagwa-Karimo expressway leading to Abuja, was overrun by the bandits, who were heavily armed.

“On Thursday at 2 a.m., they entered in large numbers, heavily armed, and began assaulting residents while seizing phones and other valuables. One man, who fell while fleeing, had his ear cut off,” the source added.

The neighborhood is actively seeking donations to treat the victim, who is in critical condition due to blood loss. Additionally, a mentally ill boy who was alone in a room was beaten and had his phone stolen by the bandits.
