New York Magazine honours Gov Zulum “Best of Africa Leadership Excellence Award”

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has been honoured with Forbes Magazine Best of Africa Leadership Excellence Award 2024. Forbes is a global media company focused on business, investing, technology, entrepreneurship, leadership, and lifestyle.

Forbes Magazine’s “Best of Africa Leadership Excellence Award” is awarded to leaders that exemplify integrity, innovation, and impact, according to statement by SSA new media, Abdurrahaman Bandi, on Saturday.

The award was presented by Mr. Steve Forbes, chairman of Integrated Whale Media Investments, owner of Forbes Magazine, at Forbes House in New York, United States of America on Friday.

Zulum, who could not personally attend the event due to the devastating flood that struck Maiduguri, was represented by his Chief Adviser and Coordinator for Sustainable Development and Humanitarian Response, Dr. Mairo Mandara.

Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to the award organisers, saying, “I am deeply honoured to accept this award. We are proud of our achievements, and we are confident that we can leverage these successes to achieve an even greater impact.”

Zulum among other recipients, was conferred with Nigeria’s national honour as Commander of the Order of the Niger, CON, by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022.

Before that, President Mohammed Bazoum of the Republic of Niger in 2021, had decorated Zulum, with the country’s Second-Order of National Honour, “de Grand Officer Dans I`Ordre”, which is the equivalent of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON, in Nigeria’s ranking of national honours.
