Falz and 4 Celebrities Championing Political Activism in Nigeria

As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence Day, it’s essential to recognize the influential celebrities who are advocating for a better nation. These household names are using their platforms to spotlight critical social issues and encourage political change.

1. Falz
Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, uses his music as a powerful tool for activism. His songs address pressing issues such as corruption, police brutality, and economic inequality. The track “This Is Nigeria” critiques societal problems, mirroring the impactful style of Childish Gambino’s “This Is America.” Falz was a prominent figure during the 2020 #ENDSARS protests, using his performances to raise awareness about police brutality and the struggles of everyday Nigerians.

2. Seun Kuti
Following in the footsteps of his legendary father, Fela Kuti, Seun Kuti is a vocal advocate for human rights and political reform. His music critiques government policies and highlights social injustices. Seun actively engages in discussions on social media about issues affecting Nigerians, particularly during movements like #ENDSARS.

3. Mr Macaroni
Comedian and skit maker Mr Macaroni is a relatable activist who encourages the youth to engage in activism. His content promotes awareness and participation in social causes. He has been actively involved in protests, notably leading a peaceful walk during the 3rd anniversary of the Lekki massacre.

4. Kate Henshaw
