Governor Zulum Appoints New Media Adviser After 8 Months

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has appointed Dauda Iliya as his official spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media, following the death of Mallam Isa Gusau in February 2024.

The governor announced this decision in a statement released on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi.

Iliya currently serves as the chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists in Borno and hails from Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area in southern Borno. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics and a master’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of Maiduguri in 2024.

A member of several professional organizations, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters, Iliya previously worked as a reporter for federal radio corporations covering Borno State.
