Record Scottish Professional League champions Rangers have delayed the transfer of Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers due to their €5 million asking price, reports Soccernet.ng.
The 30-year-old Nigerian forward began the season as manager Philippe Clement’s first-choice striker. However, a lack of form saw him lose his starting spot to Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane.
Dessers, who recently scored a hat-trick against Fraserburgh, has expressed his desire for regular playing time, even if it means leaving Ibrox.
“I want to play every week, preferably at Rangers. But if the club has different plans, we’ll need to talk,” Dessers said.
Leganes Show Interest but Face Financial Hurdles
Spanish La Liga side CD Leganes has shown interest in signing Dessers. However, they are unable to meet Rangers’ €5 million valuation, the same amount the Scottish club paid to acquire the striker from Cremonese in 2023.
While a loan move has been suggested, Rangers reportedly prefer offers that would permanently take Dessers off their books.
Leganes, currently 15th in La Liga and just three points above the relegation zone, remain eager to strengthen their attacking options but face financial constraints in the January transfer window.
