Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has criticized his successor, Governor Uba Sani, accusing him of supporting President Bola Tinubu for personal gain.
El-Rufai’s comments came after Governor Sani defended Tinubu’s administration during a live program, where he expressed concern over criticism from some founding members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Responding via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, El-Rufai suggested that Sani’s support for Tinubu was influenced by over ₦150 billion in federal reimbursements, interventions, and grants received by Kaduna State over the past 18 months.
Governor Sani, during the program, criticized certain APC members for publicly opposing Tinubu’s policies, calling their actions unfortunate and undemocratic. He urged critics to wait until the 2027 elections if they believed they could challenge Tinubu’s leadership.
In reaction, the Kaduna Peace and Unity Forum (KPUF) defended Governor Sani, arguing that El-Rufai lacked the moral standing to criticize him. The group accused El-Rufai of leaving Kaduna in financial distress and praised Sani’s efforts to improve governance and security in the state.
The exchange reflects ongoing political tensions within Kaduna State and highlights differing views on the current administration’s policies and leadership approach.
