2026 WCQ: Super Eagles Must Beat Rwanda — Musa

By Abigail Philip David

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has emphasized the importance of securing a win against Rwanda in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The Nigerian team is yet to register a victory in the qualifiers, having drawn three matches and lost one in Group C.

Eric Chelle’s side will face the Amavubi of Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday, March 21.

Musa believes a win in this match could be a turning point for the Super Eagles in their qualification campaign.

“The most important game for us right now is against Rwanda,” the former Leicester City forward told reporters in Ilorin ahead of Kano Pillars’ league clash with Kwara United.

“If we can secure three points from that match, it will change everything for us. But this is not just about the Super Eagles alone—every Nigerian must be involved because we need their support.”

After missing out on the last World Cup, Musa stressed that failing to qualify for the 2026 tournament would be a major setback for Nigerian football.

“The Super Eagles are in a difficult situation right now, but we believe in ourselves and our ability to qualify,” he added.

“Nigeria cannot afford to miss the 2026 World Cup. It would be a huge disaster for us as players and for the nation.”
