Trump Gov’t Blocks Harvard Varsity From Enrolling International Students

The U.S. government under President Donald Trump has officially revoked Harvard University’s certification to enroll international students, according to a report by CNBC on Thursday.

The move escalates an ongoing legal conflict between the Ivy League institution and the Trump administration.

In a letter obtained by The New York Times, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem wrote:

“I am writing to inform you that effective immediately, Harvard University’s Student and Exchange Visitor Program certification is revoked.”

This revocation means that Harvard is no longer permitted to admit international students under the federal program that governs student visas.

Secretary Noem had issued warnings as far back as April, cautioning the university that its authorization to enroll foreign students depended on full compliance with federal immigration laws. Thursday’s action makes good on that threat.

The development marks a significant moment in U.S. higher education policy, with potentially wide-reaching consequences for international student mobility and institutional autonomy.
