I have no presidential ambition in 2027 – Yahaya Bello

Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has firmly denied having any presidential ambition for the 2027 elections, stating unequivocally that he will not contest against President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement released on Friday by his Media Director, Michael Ohiare, Bello dismissed as false and misleading a resurfaced video of a 2022 rally, which some online users falsely claimed was evidence of a new presidential campaign against Tinubu.

“We categorically state that our principal, Bello, has no intention of running for president in 2027,” the statement read. “He remains fully committed to supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.”

Bello’s camp emphasized that the video being circulated was from a 2022 event, and that the dates were clearly visible on the banners shown in the footage. Ohiare labeled the repost as a desperate attempt by mischief makers to spread disinformation and create division.

“It’s a senseless post pushed by a confused mind,” Ohiare said, calling on Nigerians to disregard the video and see it for what it is—a deliberate effort by detractors to pit Bello against the president.

He further noted that this is not the first time such tactics have been employed to tarnish the former governor’s image, describing the misinformation campaign as part of a broader “bring-him-down-at-all-costs” agenda that has consistently failed.

“These fabricators keep trying to stir conflict where there is none,” Ohiare added. “But Nigerians are not fooled. Reasonable citizens can clearly see this as the work of those who thrive on lies and manipulation.”

Reiterating Bello’s loyalty, the statement concluded that the former governor is solidly behind President Tinubu and believes the current administration deserves continued support based on its performance so far.
