Tinubu To Wike, I’ll Support Livestock Ranching In Abuja

… Commissions Kwali 15-kilometer A2 to Pia Road

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to support the FCT Minister Barr Nysome Wike turn the grazing lands in satellite towns into livestock ranches to boost “rural project” development.

President Tinubu made this pledge on Monday during the commissioning of the 15-kilometer A2 to Pia Town Road in Kwali Area Council.

The president promised to throw his weight behind Barr. Wike to ensure that the wasting opportunities on the grazing lands be turned into the establishment of ranches and rural development for the betterment of the lives of the people.

President Tinubu who expressed surprise at the large expance of land in the satellite town said, “On our way here, we saw opportunities, prosperity, and the need for the establishment of ranches and rural development to uplift the lives of our rural people.”

“We will combat what used to be a liability and a source of conflict, turning it into a means of prosperity.”

President Tinubu who expressed his enthusiasm about agarian rural development, urged Wike to consider turning grazing lands into opportunities for the uplifting of lives in rural development as he said, ” The time has come to call it a rural area project.”

The President also commissioned the 15 km A2 to Pai road, which he described as a strategic rural road that makes an important contribution to “Nigeria’s Rural communities.

He said, “The commissioning of this newly constructed road from A2 junction on Abuja-Lakota expressway to Pia Town is both symbolic and strategic.”
According to him, the Pia road makes an important contribution to the Nigeria’social and economic fabric, especially in food production and local enterprises.”

“It is strategic because it opens a new corridor for agriculture, commerce, education, mobility, and other areas, strengthening our national economy from the grassroots up” , the President emphasized.

Mr. President commended the FCT Minister Barr Nysome Wike for changing the narratives of rural development, saying that before the construction of the road, the potentials of the people has been hindered by poor road access, isolation, and neglect for far too long.

“Today, that narrative is changing”, he asserted.

He called on Barr. Wike to focus more on road and rural infrastructural development in every area council for the benefit of the people.

According to him, road and infrastructure development are meaningless if we don’t develop them for benefit of our people.

“We will ensure that development is not lopsided but balanced, inclusive, and targets lifting lives” Mr. President assured.

“To the people of Pia, this is your road. I urge the community to take ownership of this infrastructure, guide it, maintain it, and use it to the fullest.”

“Let it be a pathway to growth and a bridge to a better life for the youth, farmers, traders, and students who will move with great ease, he admonished.

Meanwhile Barr. Wike thanked President Tinubu for his unflinching support for the achievement so far.

Wike said,” We are happy with the kind of support you’ve given to us to achieve all this result. You see, you can give somebody an appointment, and he does not have support, the person cannot do anything.

The FCT minister said that apart from the road creating accessibility to communities, it will also influence food security, adding that the vast farmlands in the community will be given to real farmers will to farm to enhance food security in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
