We’re Used to Hardship, Government Isn’t Doing Anything” — Zlatan Laments

Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has criticised the government for neglecting citizens amid worsening economic hardship, saying Nigerians have sadly become accustomed to suffering.

Speaking in an interview with Madame Joyce in the UK, the “Zanku (Leg Work)” crooner lamented that many now see hardship as normal because the government has failed to act.

“We are used to it — suffering and smiling. That’s how it has always been, and the government isn’t doing anything about it,” Zlatan said.

Reacting to British rapper Dave’s remarks about Nigerians spending lavishly in clubs while beggars struggle outside, Zlatan admitted that inequality and poverty remain deep-rooted issues.

He, however, urged citizens to take personal responsibility, noting that some people rely solely on handouts instead of seeking opportunities to improve their lives.

Zlatan called for a balance between self-reliance and government accountability, stressing that Nigerians must work together to build a fairer and more prosperous nation.
