NNPP Chairman Says 2026 Budget Will Drive Kano’s Transformation

By Jabiru Hassan

Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Dr. Hashimu Sulaiman Dungurawa, says the 2026 budget proposal presented by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf marks a major step toward transforming both urban and rural communities across the state. He made the statement on Wednesday shortly after the governor laid the over N1 trillion budget proposal before the Kano State House of Assembly.

Dr. Dungurawa described the proposed budget as a strategic blueprint that prioritizes capital projects capable of accelerating development across key sectors. He noted that if effectively implemented, the 2026 fiscal plan would position Kano among the fastest-developing states in the country.

According to him, the NNPP-led administration has continued to demonstrate commitment to delivering people-centered governance, adding that the proposed budget reflects sincerity of purpose and dedication to public service.

He said the allocations outlined in the budget show that the current government is “working selflessly to provide excellent services to citizens without bias,” and remains focused on enhancing the welfare of residents.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his government for making significant impact toward the progress of our great state,”
Dr. Dungurawa stated.

He added that the governor’s dedication to improving the quality of life for Kano residents is evident in ongoing reforms and developmental initiatives currently being enjoyed across various communities.

Dr. Dungurawa emphasized that the 2026 budget demonstrates the administration’s seriousness about sustainable development, citing improvements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and livelihood enhancement programmes already underway.

In his closing remarks, the NNPP chairman commended all stakeholders involved in preparing the budget proposal, praising their efforts in ensuring it was presented successfully before the legislative arm of government.

He expressed optimism that with collaborative implementation and continued support from the public, Kano State will witness meaningful progress in the coming year.
