“Anything Is Possible” — Ayden Heaven Backs United’s Big Ambitions After Newcastle Win

Manchester United defender Ayden Heaven has insisted the club can still aim high this season following their hard-earned 1–0 Premier League victory over Newcastle United, saying the team should not limit its ambitions.

According to a BBC report on Friday, December 26, 2025, Heaven said United “belong in Europe” and believe a push for the top four — and even the league title — remains possible.

United secured all three points at Old Trafford thanks to Patrick Dorgu’s stunning 24th-minute volley, his first goal for the club. While Newcastle controlled large spells of the match, particularly in the second half, United’s defensive resilience proved decisive in preserving the clean sheet.

The visitors outshot United 16–9 and enjoyed 76 percent possession after the break, but were repeatedly denied by a disciplined back line and calm goalkeeping. Lewis Hall striking the crossbar summed up Newcastle’s frustration.

Speaking after the match, Heaven said the win could be a confidence booster for the squad.

“I think as Manchester United, we belong in Europe,” he said. “We want to get back there next season, so we can even push for top four, possibly win the league. Anything’s possible. We want to keep trying.”

Heaven admitted the contest was a real test, especially with captain Bruno Fernandes sidelined through injury. Despite sustained pressure, United maintained their structure and composure — something the defender credited to growing trust in manager Rúben Amorim’s approach.

“The manager has us playing different systems all the time,” Heaven explained. “Whatever he does, we know it’s going to work. I’m so proud of the team.”

United also survived a late scare when VAR reviewed a potential penalty involving Lisandro Martínez, but no spot-kick was awarded as Newcastle continued to press for an equaliser.

The victory sees Manchester United draw level on points with Chelsea and Liverpool, strengthening their push for European qualification as the season progresses.
