It was double joy for the Tourka family and friends when the Director of Media and Public Relations, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. Celestine Toruka, and his wife, Mrs. Dominica Toruka, graduated at the 15th Convocation Ceremony of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), held weekend at the university’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
The ceremony drew families and well-wishers who converged to celebrate with the family.
Mr. Toruka was conferred with a Master of Science in Mass Communication, while Mrs. Toruka earned a Master of Arts in English Language.
The couple’s joint graduation marks the culmination of years of academic stride.
Colleagues who joined the family to felicitate their academic success describe their achievement as remarkable, noting that not all who commenced the programmes alongside them completed the course of study.
Navigating NOUN’s demanding academic structure is challenging for one individual, let alone two pursuing postgraduate studies concurrently. A friend who declined to be mentioned said it was a double celebration as the Torukas graduated simultaneously.
“”Their success underscores the value of hard work, determination, and perseverance.”
The couple’s commitment to pursuing excellence despite competing professional and family demands was also described as exemplary and worthy of emulation.
The Torukas’ achievement reflects purposeful planning and dogged resolve to make a mark in academia while serving in public office.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Celestine Toruka on this uncommon academic milestone.
