Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has pledged to create more job opportunities for youths and upgrade the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in the state.The governor made the commitment in a message delivered at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Asaya.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, through the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Momoh Steven Azeez, Ododo said his administration would focus on revitalising key sectors to boost employment.He assured that the government would provide administrative support to enhance youth development and improve opportunities for young people in the state.
The governor also promised to address challenges facing the NYSC scheme locally, including plans to upgrade the orientation camp to meet national standards. He assured corps members of their safety and encouraged them to adhere to camp rules and regulations. Ododo congratulated the participants on completing their studies and urged them to make the most of the programme while avoiding social vices.
He also commended NYSC officials for organising the orientation exercise and pledged continued support for the scheme. The governor welcomed the newly appointed Kogi State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Chris-Moneke Chika Tochi. In her remarks, the coordinator advised corps members to comply with camp guidelines throughout the orientation period.
