The company’s group manager, Marketing and Communication, Aniekan Essienette explained in a statement that the gesture was carried out through its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative FAMPact (Fight Against Malaria in Pregnant Women and Children Today).

It added that the presentation was significant to the the State Malaria Elimination Programme (SMEP) under the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Health.

“The donation of 30,000 doses of Sulfadoxine-Pyrimethamine, 10,000 doses of Lokmal DT, and 10,000 doses of Paracetamol DT to help augment the burden of malaria in affected communities was formally presented today, April 24, 2026, one day ahead of the global observance by the CEO of Ibom Air, Mr. George Uriesi, who was accompanied by members of the Ibom Air management team.

“The presentation was received by the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John, on behalf of the Government of Akwa Ibom State.

“This is the third year in a row that Ibom Air has made such a donation, showcasing the airline’s genuine passion for health as one of its core Corporate Social Responsibility pillars.

“This year’s World Malaria Day theme, “Driven to end malaria, Now we can, Now we must,” resonates strongly with the FAMPact mission to drive community engagement and amplify conversations around malaria prevention strategies, protecting the vulnerable.

“Malaria remains one of Nigeria’s leading causes of death, especially among pregnant women and children under five.
To further amplify the message, Ibom Air is inviting the public to join in an awareness walk on World Malaria Day, globally celebrated on the 25th of April every year, tagged “Walk Against Malaria” on Saturday, April 25th, 2026, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State”. The statement said.

It added that,”the walk will begin at the iconic Ibom Plaza at 6:00 AM and will feature public sensitization sessions, health education, and aerobic sessions. Special guest in attendance is a renowned Medical Influencer, Aproko Doctor (Dr. Chinonso Egemba Fidelis), who will further amplify the message and raise awareness.

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Mrs. Imelda Aba, Group Manager for Corporate Services at Ibom Air, noted that, “at Ibom Air, we believe that our responsibility extends beyond flying passengers to their destinations.

“Through FAMPact, we are investing directly in the health and well-being of our communities. This year’s donation and the awareness walk are reminders that malaria is preventable, and everyone has a role to play. We are proud to partner with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to drive this message home.”

Dr. Ukeme John, Programme Manager of SMEP, added, “we commend Ibom Air for its sustained commitment to the fight against malaria. This donation comes at a critical time and will significantly support our efforts to protect pregnant women and children. We encourage all Akwa Ibom residents to turn out for the walk and join hands with us to end malaria.”
