Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has commended the City Boy Movement for its role in youth mobilisation and political engagement, pledging support for initiatives that promote leadership and national development.
The governor gave the remarks while receiving leaders of the group, led by its National Director-General, Francis Shoga, during a courtesy visit at Government House in Asaba.Oborevwori said he had observed the movement’s activities across the state and beyond, describing it as a platform contributing to political awareness and youth participation. He encouraged members to sustain their efforts in engaging young people in governance.
He also acknowledged the group’s support for President Bola Tinubu and urged continued mobilisation of youths toward constructive participation in public affairs. “Young people are key stakeholders in shaping policies and governance. Their ideas and energy are essential for inclusive development,” the governor said, adding that the state government is open to collaboration.
Earlier, Shoga said the visit underscored the group’s commitment to youth empowerment and active participation in governance. He described the City Boy Movement as a structured platform aimed at developing leadership capacity among young Nigerians. According to him, the organisation has expanded its presence across several states and internationally, with a focus on mobilising youth engagement.The visit also featured the inauguration of the Delta State chapter of the movement.
