The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammed Babandede, says he is thankful to God for making him contract COVID-19.
Babandede, who tested positive for the virus last week, said in a short video that the sickness had given him the opportunity to humble himself.
The immigration boss, who said he was doing well, urged Nigerians to wash their hands regularly and observe personal hygiene.
Babandede said, “I am very grateful for your prayers. In reality, your prayers are helping me recover very quickly.
“I thank Him, Allah, for giving me the opportunity to be sick because it gives me the opportunity to humble myself and to also know that I am loved by such a large number of people. Today, April 1, I am sending this short video to tell you that I am doing well, recovering gradually
“Please take care always. Wash your hands, maintain social distance. This disease is real but above all, continue to pray; continue to pray so that Nigeria will be safe from any disaster. The numbers are still small but we must pray that the numbers don’t grow.”
The immigration boss is one among many VIPs that have contracted the virus.
Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State, as well as governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde of Bauchi and Oyo states respectively, have all tested positive for the virus as well as the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.
