NCBSG To Monitor Presidential Election For Buhari- Sen. Abu Ibrahim

The National Committee for Buhari Support Groups (NCBSG) has been mandated to handle election management and monitoring during forth coming presidential poll.

The Chairman NCBSG Board of Trustees, Senator Abu Ibrahim disclosed this on Wednesday when about 20 Buhari support groups paid him a courtesy visit at NCBSG Secretariat, Abuja.The Courtsesy call was a subtle protest of their non inclusion in the scheme of political campaign.

Senator Ibrahim while responding to enquiry on why the group was not given prominent roles in Presidential Campaign Council.

He said NCBSG, as an umbrella body for 780 support groups for President Muhammadu Buhari has been given the role to monitor the election for Mr. President.

According to him, the president has requested for five names from each polling unit to serve as canvassers, monitor and election managers.

”It’s clear that the president has reserved the critical role of election monitoring to NCBSG. We will serve as political platform to ensure re-election of Buhari/Osinbajo candidacy during forthcoming presidential poll.” He explained.

The NCBSG BOT Chairman noted that the group has robust administrative structure across the country.

He further stressed that the group would also play significant role in Campaign council, ”Apart from our core mandate of election monitoring, we will also plan key role in the campaign. “Recently I met Nuhu Ribadu and Director, Operations and the Director,Election Management and monitoring, Babatunde Fashola to discuss our role.

”I am glad to inform you that Co-Chairman of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who is patron of NCBSG has directed inclusion of the group in campaign activities in South west and named our own Otunba Biodun ajiboye as the Director, Media and publicity.

Sen. Ibrahim hinted that the committee will organize sensitization for election managers and electorates towards the end of campaign.

He revealed that President Buhari is the grand patron of NCBSG while Senate Leader, Lawan Ahmad, Senator Ita Enang Senator George Akume and other prominent figures are member of BOT.

Reacting, the North West Zonal Women leader, Maryan Danjaki expressed satisfaction with solid structure of NCBSG across the country.

Maryam Danjaki also appreciated the BOT for keeping them abreast with activities of the committee, adding that all the support groups would intensify their efforts to ensure Buhari’s victory at the election.

She however urged the NCBSG management team to facilitate release of cammpaign materials and logistics as we approach peak period of campaigns.
