The Government and people of Benue State have been thrown into a state of mourning, following the sudden death of former Military Administrator of the state, Cool. Aminu Kontagora, rtd.
To this end, Governor Samuel Ortom has declared Tuesday, 12th January, 2021 as work-free day. Ortom further directed that flags should be flown at half mast as a mark of honor to the former leader of the state.
In his tribute to the deceased, the Governor described the passing on of Col. Kontagora as a great loss to Nigeria as a whole, maintaining that the indelible footprints he has left would ever be remembered.
Ortom sympathized with the Government and people of Niger State over the demise of their illustrious son. He prayed to the Almighty God to grant his soul eternal rest.
In the same vein, the immediate past Governor of Benue State and Senator representing Benue North East, Gabriel Suswam has condoled with the Kontagora’s family over the loss. He noted that the legacies left by Col. Kontagora would not be forgotten.
Born in 1956, Col. Aminu Kontagora was the Military Administrator of Benue State between August 1996 and August 1998 under Gen. Sani Abacha’s regime.
