Bayelsa Police arrest 2 Phone thieve suspects

The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested two suspected phone thieves who specialised in selling of phones snatched by hoodlums in Bayelsa State.

It was learnt that the suspects identified as Yusuf Abubakar, 51, and Lawali Aliyu, were arrested at Akenfa community.

In a statement issued by the Spokesperson of Bayelsa State Police Command, SP. Asinim Butswat and made available to our correspondent had that, the suspects were arrested by SWAT Operatives at Akenfa, Yenagoa on 14 March 2021, at about 1400 hours, while conveying the phones to Kano State, in a Toyota Hiace Bus with Reg No. DUT 37 ZB.

The police imagemaker said, twenty three Android phones were recovered from the suspects while they were trying to convey the phones to Kano State.

According to the spokesperson “The Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State Command, CP Mike Okoli, calls on members of the public whose phones were stolen recently, to contact the Police Command for possible identification and recovery”.

The statement noted that investigation is ongoing to unravel the source of the phones.
