Seadogs donate medical equipment to A’Ibom hospital

The National Association of Seadogs (NAS), Eket Chapter has donated medical equipments to Cottage Hospital in Ibeno in celebration of this year’s World Health Day.

The association has also commended health workers in rural areas of Akwa Ibom for their sacrifice and dedication in ensuring that health services get to people in the grassroots.

Chapter President , Mr Paul Ike, who donated the medical equipment on Thursday in Ibeno, said that the gesture was to support and encourage the front-line health workers at the Hospital, and in line with the theme of this year’s celebration “building a fairer, healthier world”.

Donating the equipments which included Sphygmomanometer, face mask, surgical wears, sanitisers, soaps, disinfectants among others,
Ike commended the front-line health workers for the various roles they had played in health care delivery at the grassroots.

The President explained that many would not understand the risk undertaken by medical personnel in secondary health institutions, particularly those within the local areas where the demand for adequate medical services has been on the rise.

He noted that not everyone that have access to tertiary health facility and since the primary and secondary health facilities were closer to the people hence, the need to appreciate those who stand in the gap, risking their lives to quell the high medical demands.

“We appreciate what you are doing, and hope that our little contribution will go a long way to motivate and encourage others to do more. I am aware that the hospital undertake surgical operations, this is commendable.” He added.

Also speaking, the Medical Director of the association , Dr. Kalu Anya stated that NAS in their own way was supporting humanity to alleviate endangering situations around the world adding that NAS would continue to identify with the health workers take in the area of their job descriptions in the hospital.

Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr. Udeme Ette in a remark thanked NAS for the gesture adding that the donation would go a long way to aide in the day-to-day operations of the hospital.
