ABSG Set To Implement Supreme Court Ruling On Abia Community Land Boundaries

The Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu has lauded Ndi Ojiaku and Ndi Ebe communities in Abam, Arochukwu L.G.A, of the state for accepting wholeheartedly the Supreme Court Judgement on their boundary matter.

Modalities have been put in place for the final field demarcation of the boundary lines between the two communities in the absence of any dissenting views to the Supreme Court Judgement on their boundary problem.

Speaking during a meeting conveyed at the instance of the State Boundary Committee held at the Banquet Hall, Umuahia, the Deputy Governor expressed happiness that the two communities have also been coexisting peacefully over the years, and enjoined them to cooperate with the State Boundary Committee which is made up of seasoned and unbiased members during delineation and Field Tracing Exercise as well as supply other documents and information that will be useful for the exercise.

Sir Oko Chukwu further announced that another sub Committee will be set up to see to the actual delineation as Government on their part will continue to ensure that all boundary issues across the State are resolved amicably and prayed God to guide them achieve a successful Field work exercise.

In his speech, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Boundary Matters, Sir Chris Nwanevu noted that since the two communities were in agreement with the Supreme Court Judgement, the Committee is ready and will only use the survey plan accepted by the Supreme Court in the delineation and Field Tracing Exercise while the two communities are expected to take care of logistics for the exercise.

Similarly, the President General of Ndi Ebe Abam Community, Chief Emeka Onuoha and a representative of Ndi Ojiaku Community, Dr lsaac lronya said they were in total agreement with the Supreme Court Judgement on their boundary lines and are ready for the commencement of the actual Field Tracing Exercise and delineation to bring to an end issues affecting their boundary lines.

The Deputy Chief of Staff, office of the Deputy Governor, Sir Don Ubani, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Lands and Survey, Mrs Joy Nwakanma, former Commissioner for Boundary Matters and Conflict Resolution Chief Mascot lmo Obike and other members of the State Boundary Committee were present during the meeting.
