AFCON 2025: Uganda Captain Vows Readiness to Challenge Super Eagles

By Abigail Philip David

Uganda’s national team captain, Khalid Aucho, has affirmed that his squad is fully prepared to take on Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Cranes, drawn in Group C alongside Nigeria, three-time African champions Tunisia, and regional rival Tanzania, face stiff competition as experts favor Nigeria and Tunisia to secure the top two spots.

Despite the daunting group, Aucho expressed confidence in his team’s ability. “Being at AFCON means you’re strong enough to compete with any team. I know my boys and they will deliver. We want to make our fans happy,” he told fufa.co.ug.

Uganda’s campaign will kick off at Morocco 2025 on Tuesday, December 23, with a match against Tunisia, known as the Carthage Eagles. Their final group encounter is scheduled for Tuesday, December 30, when they will face Nigeria.
