Another Osun Senator Dumps PDP Amid Internal Crisis

Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, who represents Osun Central in the National Assembly, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unresolved internal disputes and prolonged legal battles within the party.

In a resignation letter dated July 12, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward 3 Chairman in Oke Ejigbo, Ila Orangun, Osun State, Fadeyi attributed his decision to deep divisions that have plagued the party at the national level for over three years.

“I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” the letter read in part. “The irreconcilable differences and ongoing court cases have fractured the party, making it impossible to continue.”

Fadeyi confirmed the authenticity of the letter in a message to a correspondent in Osogbo, noting that the move followed extensive consultations with his political associates, family, and supporters.

His resignation comes shortly after Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East, also quit the PDP. Fadahunsi, a two-term senator, announced his departure in a letter dated June 12, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward 4 Chairman.

In the letter, which surfaced on social media, Fadahunsi similarly cited “irreparable and irreconcilable differences” and “protracted legal battles” that have rocked the party since the 2023 general elections. When contacted, he confirmed the letter with a brief text message: “YES.”

Both resignations underscore growing discontent within the PDP ranks in Osun State and at the national level, as internal rifts continue to prompt high-profile exits from the party.
